I like the solitude the O trek provides but don’t have the time to do both (4-5 days for W PLUS 6-9 days for O) . Thanks!

Depends on where you are, but in most of the popular Patagonia backpacking sites you’re required to camp in designated areas, or stay in a hut/lodge.

In the Patagonia wilderness, is it legal/acceptable to camp wherever you want (outside of designated sites) like it is in much of North America? Or does it depend on where you are?
