Hey Austin, great question. It depends on the temperatures that you’re going to encounter, but I would say you made an excellent choice. Those are the same specs that I would’ve chosen if you’re planning on sleeping in temps right around freezing or just below. If you do get chilly, you can bundle up with a puffy coat and extra clothing on cold nights. As far as waterproof stuff sacks, I would recommend checking out our top picks list (there’s a link in the top menu bar under the gear guide) and have a look at the sea to summit evac model. We use a 13 L evac for our sleeping bags because the air can compress out of them in our backpacks but they’re still waterproof. Hope that helps!

Also, is there any suggestions for waterproof stuff/compression sacks out there, ive seen guys use Zpacks, but dont know what size to get since i haven’t received my bag yet.

Hi David. The EE quilt itself was really nice and is so much better than a sleeping bag. That $100 charge was a killer though. They could have easily ate it up and I would have left a happy customer and given them positive reviews. For small companies like EE, word of mouth is important to generate business so was it really worth $100 for them to receive a potentially negative review? Plus, I planned on buying three more quilts from them in 2018 but that transaction has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will look for other cottage companies to do business with. For EE, I would strongly recommend to them that they amend their return/exchange policy to reflect any fees that they may charge and the reason for it. That way the customer will know beforehand and plan accordingly.

Thanks for the comment and I’m sorry to hear you had a negative experience with EE. I’ve used quilts too small and not wide enough in the past and the experience definitely sucks. That’s why we always recommend bumping up one size in width and length for extra coverage on chilly nights. If your quilt is too small or does not have enough down in it, you will almost definitely be too cold when the temperature drops.
