Did they easily satisfy both of you splitting one package, or would it be preferable to get one package each?

Very good point. It’s always disappointing to taste a new meal for the first time after a long day of hiking and find it lacking in flavor. Thanks for the comment!

Admittedly, most of my trips are shorter in nature (3 nights) and I’ve tended to save the meal in a bag as a last night or emergency ration only. Probably time to skip a delivered pizza and actually cycle through those I’ve bad for awhile and a few new flavours like those mentioned below. Wouldn’t go hiking with new boots why taste a meal for the first time after a long day on the trail?

They tended to be very bland. The other problem I’ve had with products containing actual freeze dried tomatoes (with skins) is that they never seem to rehydrate well, and often are left as relatively hard/sticky chunks that are distasteful in an otherwise soft meal.

Thanks for the comment Doug. New Orleans Style Rice w/Shrimp & Ham sounds great. And you’re right about the Chicken and White Bean Chili too. Good suggestions!

You have heard the joke about the hiker that heats up freeze dried at home, I have done that with these two. Several years ago we tried the Biscuits and Gravy and the crew was not happy. Glad to hear they have a new recipe, we will give it another try, thank you for the review.

Had some while on St. Helens I couldn’t eat it all so I saved it and put the rest in a bowl and through it in the microwave the next day, it was still exellent! Your beef stroganoff is my all time favorite sooooo good.

Thanks for the comment Jennifer! Great feedback and I’m glad to hear you liked the biscuits and gravy too.

It has so much flavor!! but the biscuits didn’t moisten the whole way through. Maybe because we didn’t stir it when we added the water? The little extra crunch didn’t hinder our enjoyment of the meal. Definitely recommended! 🙂 Cant wait to try the chicken fried rice next weekend!

Yup, I’ve tried some of their stuff, but I definitely need to try more. What I’ve tasted of their meals have been very good. Maybe I’ll do a post where I test and recommend a bunch of different backpacking food options. Thanks for the comment Ian!
