I was planning the full trip around Mt Adams this year; I do have experience with ice axes and scrambling. What led you to taking the higher route to Sunrise Camp versus dropping into Hellroaring Meadow and climbing back out? I think I saw this in another trip report. Do you have a GPS track that you can post?
