Thanks for the excellent feedback Scott! It’s fantastic to get this type of recommendation from a hiker with that many miles under his belt. Much appreciated and happy hiking!

It has been my only water treatment method for 2 thru-hikes of the Pacific Crest Trail, 2 thru-hikes of the Continental Divide Trail & 1 4/5 hikes of the Appalachian Trail (Had to get off the AT for hernia surgery, I’ll finish it in 2018.) I usually fill the bottle and then treat as I walk. It’s great. This newest version sounds even better.

Though it has a display that tells you whether the water is safe to drink or not, if the sensor or the UV light inside broke and it gives you the wrong information, you’re at risk of poisoning.

Just wondering what was your biggest reason for switching over to this purification system? I should probably not think too much about the risks and just try this out with the "cleaner" impure water first
