It has been very helpful. I hiked the. I completed the TCT on 8/28/24. The trail is in great conditions. Nights are chilly with frost above 9000 fly. There is public transportation (Start bus) from Jackson to Teton village ($3 one way). I arranged a pick up at Jenny lakr (mountain taxi, great job: very accommodating). Thank you once again, Pier Paolo

Hey Steven, thanks for reaching out, but I’m sorry that we can’t help you with that kind of info. I’d recommend checking with the ranger station about that. Thanks and have a great trip!

Any chance these sites accommodate hammocks 6 people, or are tents a must?

Starting Trailhead: Tram Trail
Camp 1 – Death Canyon Shelf (pick your own campsite)
Camp 2 – South Fork (designated campsites)
Camp 3 – Holly Lake

Hi Dave, thanks so much this has been super helpful. I’ll pass that along to my group, and we’ll certainly use some some of your training advice! Hope you’re doing well and have a great summer, and again thank you for the hard work you clearly do on this website, it’s an awesome resource!

Hi Caleb, happy to help! That sounds like a very doable day, though a good amount of climbing and descending. I think with an early start you’ll have a great day. I’d definitely recommend training with full packs on a few pre-trip day hikes, also get daily squats and lunges in, and pack very light on your trip. Being in good shape and only carrying the things you really need will make a huge difference, and your group will definitely have a lot more fun that way. We’ve got tons of resources to help with that type of stuff on our site, so if you need some advice on what gear to buy or what skills you’ll need I’d say have a look around. Hope that helps and have a great trip!

Hi Dave! Thanks for the reply. It’s 1400 ft climbing, 2400 ft descending, 11 miles total. Our group is very fit, but for about half this will be the longest trip they’ve been on. I was planning to start early that day (on the trail about 6:00 am). I’m really stoked for the trip, and your website has been so helpful in the planning! Thanks again 🙂

Thanks Caleb! We truly appreciate the positive feedback! That’s what keeps us going.

As far as your question goes, how many miles would that be? And how much elevation gain and loss? A lot of the time that type of decision will depend on the fitness level of your group, how heavy your packs are, and how much experience you have on the trail. On long days, we always get a really early start and that tends to help. If you give me those mileage and elevation figures I’ll have a better idea of how challenging a day that would be.

Have a great trip!

Love your site and use it frequently when planning trips! Thanks for the awesome work you do. Looking for a bit of advice: I’m planning a trip w/ 7 others on the TCT in August 2019 and was hoping to go from Death Canyon Shelf Group Site to South Cascade Canyon Group Site in a single day. Do you think this is too far, considering we’d be crossing Mt. Meek Pass and Hurricane Pass in a single day? Thanks for any advice, and again, thanks for all the work you do to get beautiful pages like this out to the community! 🙂

-Caleb
