I’m hiking the Timberline Trail soon and I called the Lodge to ask about parking. They said they only allow overnight parking for guests (we’re not staying there before or after the hike). Do you think hikers just park there anyways? Do you know of any alternatives for parking? Thanks so much! Liz

This will be my first solo hike so I am a bit anxious but excited. With the snow reports indicating that there will still be some snow cover can you recommend clothing for this time of year. I will be flying into Portland and will need transportation to Timberline. What are your suggestions for getting to Timberline from the airport.

I’d recommend checking out the trip reports forum on http://www.oregonhikers.org/. Sometimes you can find recent reports on there. You could also call the local ranger station. Hope that helps!

Looking into hiking this loop the second week of June, but I’m worried that the trails might be impassible due to snow. Are there any resources to check on current snow conditions?

Hi Ray, yup, that’s where I parked. I believe it’s free parking and I don’t think you need a pass, though I put out my NW Forest pass just in case. Not sure if that’s changed though, so you might want to check with Timberline.

Dave. I was wondering about parking at Timberline Lodge. Is it ok to park there and is there a fee for parking? Thanks- Ray

Hi Jay, everyone’s comfort level is different, so it’s tough for me to give firm recommendations on that topic. That said, if you’re an experienced hiker I’d expect you to have no problems with logistics on the Timberline. Just make sure to train before your hike. You’ll have a great time.

Great site — thanks! This summer will be my first time hiking out on the west coast. I’m an experienced east coast hiker. Do you think it’s ok to solo the Timberline Trail? Thanks, Jay
