Hey Jacob, I’m assuming you’re teahouse trekking and carrying all your own gear? Teahouse trekking cuts way down on what you’ll need to carry (no tent, sleeping pad, food, stove, etc.), so I think any of the packs you listed would work great. Unless you’re bringing a bunch of bulky, heavy stuff, which I would obviously recommend against : )

Hope that helps!

I’m trying to decide between bringing the Gossamer Gear Kumo vs Gorilla vs the new Osprey Levity 45L.

Hi Jacob,
So happy to hear you’re doing the Three Passes with Ganesh! It’s an amazing trek and with Ganesh as your guide, you are in good (and fun!) hands. As far as training for the trek, you definitely want to make sure you’re working on building up leg strength. We always do sets of squats and lunges for weeks leading up a trip. We also suggest packing a full bag and going on day hikes. No better way to get in good hiking shape than by hiking! Being physically fit will help with altitude, though it will not make you immune to it. Altitude sickness is somewhat unpredictable, as I’m sure you’ve read. Also, if you’re nervous about altitude coming from low elevation, I would recommend spending several days in Kathmandu prior to your trek. It’s only around 4,500 feet, but if coming from low altitude, it will be good. Have an awesome trip and say hi to Ganesh from us!

It was super helpful in planning my Nepal trip. I’m going to do the Three Passes trek with Ganesh. I was wondering if you had any advice regarding training in the months/weeks leading up to the trip. I live at pretty low altitude and wanna be ready for the challenge.
