Hi John,

I don’t think the Triplex is quite what you’re looking for with the conditions you’re describing. The Triplex is designed to be used mostly in 3-season conditions. It can handle light snow and a surprisingly strong amount of wind, but the conditions you’re describing are pretty intense. If you’re actually looking for a tent that can withstand 60-100 mph winds, you’ll definitely need something more burly. That’s really strong wind. Personally, I’d recommend seeking shelter from the wind to pitch your tent. Even in the most exposed terrain we can generally find decent wind shelter to help protect our tents. Also, if you want a tent that can handle heavy snow, I’d definitely advise a 4-season shelter. We have experience with the Anjan2 and would put the Triplex in roughly the same class for wind/snow, so if you don’t think that will fit the bill, I’d recommend bumping up to a more burly 4-season design. Hope that helps!

Have you used the Triplex in fours season conditions? Namely, how does the tent fare with snow loading? What are the maximum winds it will withstand? Does the vestibule door close tight enough to use the tent in freezing weather?

Would you use this tent on a 12-14 day backpacking crossing Baffin Island via the Akshayuk Pass? While snow is not a major risk it can fall at any time. Wind is the real concern. It can blow for hours or even days with speeds of up to 60-100 mph. Most areas do not have the ability to get out of the wind.

In essence I am looking for a tent that works in all seasons and for all reasons. I currently have a Hilleberg Anjan2 which serves me well but it is not suitable for four season conditions.

Thank you.
