Thanks for sharing your experience! As you know, comfort and fit can be subjective. What works for some doesn’t always work for others. That’s why we test lots of models – certain designs fit different hiking styles, body shapes, needs, and preferences. If you’re after something sturdier with more load transfer, check out our full daypacks guide for burlier options. Cheers!

Yes, the pack is light for it’s capacity. And it’s well made. But it’s a design disaster. It carries like a sack of rocks, with all the weight hanging from one’s shoulders. The “frame” is too flimsy to transfer any significant weight to the hips. The running-pack style shoulder straps are too gossamer to help transfer any weight off the shoulders. And the hipbelt (“fins”) are too short, thin and floppy to bear any weight. I’m a full-time guide in the U.S. and Europe. And I’m the co-author of numerous hiking guidebooks on North American mountain ranges. So I’ve carried many different brands and models of daypacks. My opinion: “Two thumbs down to this Deuter failure.”
